Did you know May is National Wildfire Awareness Month?
Since many of us have been spending more time at home during the extended Safer at Home order, now is the perfect time to start thinking about preparing our homes and properties for the 2020 fire season. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube to stay up to date during wildfire awareness month. Doing these checks to reduce your risks to wildfire damage can be done without compromising the social distancing requirements we have all been dealing with.
All throughout the month we will be posting risk reduction activities and reading materials to help home and landowners prepare for the 2020 wildfire season. This article provides a checklist of simple steps we can take to make our homes and properties safer from wildfire ignition. It includes short-term projects to increase your preparedness today, and ideas to help with the long-term planning that goes into maintaining a ‘fire wise’ property.
